First Day of Classes
Today was the first day of the new semester at UMass. Both of my classes met for the first time this afternoon. My big lecture course on Race, Class, and Gender looks to have some really motivated students in there, so it looks promising. The students in my Intro to Asian American Studies class were a little quieter, but maybe it was because it was something like 90 degrees inside the classroom. So much for UMass Amherst being the flagship campus -- we can’t even regulate the temperature inside our classrooms well.

Ooops, sorry, I did indeed mean the Race, Class, and Gender course. I’ve used quite a few readings from the Hill-Collins anthology book. It’s a great text. Pisses students off and gets them out of their comfortable zone.

Hi Cheeky Prof,
I’m not sure which class you’re asking about, but for my Race, Class, Gender course, I use the Andersen and Hill-Collins anthology Race, Class, Gender. For my Intro to Asian American Studies course, I use the Zhou and Bankston anthology Contemporary Asian American and Vickie Na’s Yell-Oh Girls!. BTW, you’ve got a great site. Keep up the good work and the good fight!

Curious…what text do you use for this class (if you even use a textbook versus individual readings)?
