United Church of Christ
My family and I practice Buddhist meditation and try to follow the teachings of Buddhist philosophy as much as possible. However, we also go to church -- Edwards Church in Northampton, MA to be exact. Our church’s demonination is United Church of Christ (UCC). The UCC is generally seen to be one of, if not the most, liberal Christian demoninations in the U.S.
As an example of this, CNN reports that the UCC leadership has endorsed a resolution in support of same sex marriage -- the largest Christian denomination to do so.
It makes me proud to be a part of the UCC and it goes to show that being Christian can also mean pro-gay rights, liberal, and commited to equality and social justice for all of God’s children.
